Obaseki celebrates Okowa at 61, lauds commitment to development of Delta



The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated his Delta State counterpart, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, on his 61st birthday, lauding his commitment to the development of Delta State.

 

Obaseki said: “I celebrate my dear brother and friend, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, as he adds another year today.

 

“Governor Okowa is a gentleman and visionary leader who has over time shown his unalloyed commitment to the betterment of his people and continues to lead as a democrat and an unrepentant optimist.”

 

Obaseki acknowledged the impactful programmes of the Okowa-led government and assured that both governors will continue to strengthen the brotherly bond between the people of both states.

 

He added: “As people of the old Bendel State, my administration will continue to partner with the Delta State Government to consolidate our age-old shared values of love, peace and progress.

 

 

"I wish you excellent health and God’s continued guidance in the years ahead. Happy birthday.”

Edo won’t fight Oba of Benin over returned artefacts, says Obaseki

Segun Adewole 12 July 2021 Kindly share this story: The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration won’t engage in “disrespectful exchanges” with the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, over stolen artefacts. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie. This was in reaction to a statement issued by the Oba of Benin asking the Federal Government to temporarily take custody of 1,130 stolen Benin artefacts that are about to be repatriated from Europe. This is as the monarch stated that the rightful destination of the artefacts should be the Benin Royal Museum.
