Obaseki assures residents of improved security, more support for Police

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration will continue to partner and support operatives of the Nigeria Police Force to achieve a well-coordinated policing to protect lives and property of residents. The governor said the state government is already in partnership with the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu and officers of Ogida Police Training School to build a formidable Police Force to tackle criminality in the state. Obaseki, Decagon to launch Edo Tech Parktomorrow, Dec 14

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki will tomorrow, December 14, 2020 launch the Edo Tech Park, in partnership with Decagon, an elite software engineering and leadership training institute. A brainchild of the Governor Obaseki-led administration, the Edo Tech Park is a technology hub that is being developed to train at least 15,000 software engineers in Edo State and position them to work remotely in the state for high-paying global clients. It forms part of the state's strategy to become the technology outsourcing nerve centre in Africa.   Governor Obaseki, who has placed a premium on creating a digital economy in the state, announced during his inauguration speech that he plans to operate a digital Edo before 2025. A way to end gender-based violence or personal aggrandizement of the author of yet to be published book?

The Edo State Government, as part of efforts to end all forms gender-based violence in the state, has partnered with a domestic violence survivor, Louisa Eikhomun-Agbonkhase, on a book to educate residents on the dangers of such acts and enlighten victims of some laws enshrined in the state that protect them from abuse. The pre-launch of the book, “Surviving Domestic Violence in Relation to Laws on Protection in Nigeria,” was held recently in Benin City, the Edo State capital, as part of activities lined up for the 16 days of activism to end violence against women and girls in Nigeria, which started on November 25, 2020. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues, Pastor Mrs. Dorcas Idehen, noted that the book will educate the populace, especially survivors of gender-based violence on the need to speak out and expose perpetrators.
