Coronavirus: Obaseki’s rapid diagnostic test is negative, as he remains in self-isolation…awaits PCR test result


The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has tested negative for coronavirus, but has decided to remain in self-isolation.


In a statement, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said the result is that of the rapid diagnostic test, while the governor awaits the result of the PCR test.


According to him, “I can confirm that the governor tested negative for coronavirus when he ran the rapid diagnostic test for the virus. However, we are currently awaiting the result of more conclusive PCR test.”


“In the meantime, the governor has decided to continue to work in self-solation and he is asymptomatic,” he added.


Recall that Governor Obaseki went into self-isolation and sent his samples for testing after two persons he met some days ago, tested positive for coronavirus.

Edo won’t fight Oba of Benin over returned artefacts, says Obaseki

Obaseki swears-in new commissioners, EDSOGPADEC board members, others.

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has sworn-in Hon. Lawrence Ogieva and Hon. Alex Oleije as the Commissioners for Arts, Culture and Diaspora Affairs, and Environment and Sustainability respectively. The governor also swore-in three members of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC) and four others into the Edo State Judicial Service Commission (JSC). He charged the newly sworn-in public officials not to be distracted by the political activities in the build-up to the September 19, 2020 governorship election in the state, but strive to contribute significantly to the development of the state.
