COVID-19 Pandemic sensitization: NUJ Edo state council takes the lead in synergy with government.

NUJ Edo state council has taken the lead in synergy with the state government in sensitizing the public to stem the spread of covid-19 pandemic in the state by embarking on a road walk in Benin City.
The walk took members with black coloured "STOP SPREAD OF COVID-19" branded T Shirts to the ministry of communication and orientation where there no "washing hand bucket"/ sanitizers in sight; Airport road; the market at the primary school behind or near the Oba palace; the vegetables' market off Airport road; reservation road etc; Benin city with clear cut messages via loud public address system outlining government guidelines towards stopping the spread of the virus.
At the airport road journalists forced a taxi cab to drop excess passengers to comply with the laid down rules concerning maximum number of occupants.

Edo won’t fight Oba of Benin over returned artefacts, says Obaseki

Segun Adewole 12 July 2021 Kindly share this story: The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration won’t engage in “disrespectful exchanges” with the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, over stolen artefacts. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie. This was in reaction to a statement issued by the Oba of Benin asking the Federal Government to temporarily take custody of 1,130 stolen Benin artefacts that are about to be repatriated from Europe. Obaseki swears-in new commissioners, EDSOGPADEC board members, others.

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has sworn-in Hon. Lawrence Ogieva and Hon. Alex Oleije as the Commissioners for Arts, Culture and Diaspora Affairs, and Environment and Sustainability respectively. The governor also swore-in three members of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC) and four others into the Edo State Judicial Service Commission (JSC). He charged the newly sworn-in public officials not to be distracted by the political activities in the build-up to the September 19, 2020 governorship election in the state, but strive to contribute significantly to the development of the state.
