BREAKING: Sixth Professor Dies In Kano In Three Days

SaharaReporters gathered that Maikaba is the sixth professor to have died within three days in the state.

A professor of Mass Communication at Bayero University in Kano, Balarabe Maikaba, is dead.

SaharaReporters gathered that Maikaba is the sixth professor to have died within three days in the state. 



His burial has been fixed for 4pm on Sunday.

There is currently apprehension in Kano following the deaths of at least 25 high-profile persons to unknown causes in the city in recent days.

Edo won’t fight Oba of Benin over returned artefacts, says Obaseki

Segun Adewole 12 July 2021 Kindly share this story: The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration won’t engage in “disrespectful exchanges” with the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, over stolen artefacts. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie. This was in reaction to a statement issued by the Oba of Benin asking the Federal Government to temporarily take custody of 1,130 stolen Benin artefacts that are about to be repatriated from Europe. This is as the monarch stated that the rightful destination of the artefacts should be the Benin Royal Museum. Obaseki swears-in new commissioners, EDSOGPADEC board members, others.

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has sworn-in Hon. Lawrence Ogieva and Hon. Alex Oleije as the Commissioners for Arts, Culture and Diaspora Affairs, and Environment and Sustainability respectively. The governor also swore-in three members of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC) and four others into the Edo State Judicial Service Commission (JSC). He charged the newly sworn-in public officials not to be distracted by the political activities in the build-up to the September 19, 2020 governorship election in the state, but strive to contribute significantly to the development of the state.
