HON PETER AGUELE AND COLLEAGUES THANK GOD FOR A SUCCESSFUL TENURE AS CHAIRMEN OF COUNCILS IN EDO STATE.

As the holy book rightly opined " Jesus christ started with prayers and climaxed with prayers" was the slogan     of activities today Sunday the 7th day of March 2021 as the immediate past council Chairmen cum members of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria ( ALGON) Edo state chapter Glorified the Almighty God to whom all power belonged and by whose  power and mandate they first emerged as chairmen of councils and also saw them through to the very end of their three years constitutional tenures in that capacity. 


Hon Peter Iziogie Aguele who was obviously filled with joy and gratitude to God for his life and  members of his family including  his team and colleagues.  While addressing newsmen at his private residence in Government reservation area Benin city after a reception held in honour of himself and colleagues,  Hon Peter Iziogie Aguele thanked the Almighty God for elevating and granting him  the rare opportunity to serve as Chairman of council.


Hon Aguele specifically appreciated the Executive Governor of Edo state, His Excellency Governor Godwin Noghaghese Obaseki and his Deputy Comrade Philip Shaiubu for creating the platform for rule of law to flourish in the state which eventually led to the recovery of his stolen mandate as Executive Chairman of Esan South East council  eleven months ago and today he is celebrating the successful completion of his tenure as council Chairman coupled with victory of the rule of law over and above all considerations hence the victory of democracy over dictatorship which orchestrated the fall of godfathers in Edo state and our people have never had it so good with governance and he therefore called on the good people of Edo state to support  the Executive Governor of the state in his determination to change the narratives by Making Edo Great Again ( MEGA) noting that no government can succeed without the support and cooperation of the governed. 

  
In his remark, the Executive Governor who spoke through his Deputy Comrade Philip Shaiubu congratulated  the immediate past council chairmen for their sagacity in delivering the dividend of democracy to the people in their various council areas, he regretted the unfortunate financial constraints  since the past one year or so and ofcourse was a global phenomenon beginning with the spread of Covid-19 pandemic about a year ago which brought down global economy and ours was not an exception, backhome it was closely followed by  EndSARS protest in serial order thereafter another recession, during this unfortunate period we can attests to the efforts by council chairmen towards sustainable development but were limited by non availability of funds, moreso in our trying times as government despite you all had juicy opportunities to betray us yet you chose the parts of integrity, dignity, honour and stood by us to the very end and as a result "Vena vidi vicin" ( You all came, you saw, and you conquered) Therefore onbehalf of His Excellency Executive  Governor Godwin Noghaghese Obaseki and the good people of Edo state I congratulate you all for your noble display of patriotism,  hardwork, and faithfulness in the discharged of your various duties as council chairmen and we are indeed very proud of you all.


Present at the ceremony are: The Deputy Governor  Comrade Philip Shaiubu, his wife Mrs Marian Philip Shaiubu, members of the local government service commission, the eighteen immediate past council chairmen and wives, Party stalwarts, captains of industries, religious leaders, representatives of market women, members of the civil society groups, traditional rulers amongst others.

The thanksgiving mass was celebrated at  St Paul's Catholic Church along airport road Benin city and was followed by a reception at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral centre Benin city to the Glory of  God Almighty.

Edo won’t fight Oba of Benin over returned artefacts, says Obaseki

Segun Adewole 12 July 2021 Kindly share this story: The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has said his administration won’t engage in “disrespectful exchanges” with the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, over stolen artefacts. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie. This was in reaction to a statement issued by the Oba of Benin asking the Federal Government to temporarily take custody of 1,130 stolen Benin artefacts that are about to be repatriated from Europe.
