TRUTH BE TOLD: THE "TWIN INDUSTRIES" AT OLOGBO IS A BOLD MOVE TOWARDS MAKING EDO, THE MOST ADVANCED STATE IN NIGERIA.

TRUTH BE TOLD: OBASEKI FACILITATED "TWIN INDUSTRIES" AT OLOGBO IS A BOLD MOVE TOWARDS MAKING EDO, ONE OF THE MOST ADVANCED STATE IN NIGERIA.

  Prince I. Stanley.       Sept 19th,  2020

At the beginning of Oshiomhole's regime, it took more than a  year before projects by his new administration,  commenced.
Osho at the time canvassed two excuses for the delay. One was that the then opposition dominated house of assembly was  neither ready to approve the proposed projects nor pass a supplementary budget/review to accommodate  same; because the court restored Oshiomhole's mandate after 18 months of Prof Osariemen Osunbor.
The second was that, he needs 10 months savings of #100m each month to be able to embark on a billion naira project as revenue from the federation account , was abismally low due to fallen oil prices in the international market, at the time.
Every one, except the  unintelligent and docile, expected the administration to come up with blueprints of large, medium, small or cottage industries that are labour intensive, since Oshiomhole was a former labour leader of note.
But alas, he embarked on 'economic consumption' rather than investment,  with the saved revenue of almost two years; plus the Oseni Elema's re-engineered  internally generated revenue (IGR). The internally generated revenue quickly climbed, as a result from #400m to #1.6b/ #2b.from one and a half year into his administration.

When eventually, the then governor started his projects after lengthy feasibility studies/ design works, further expectation was that investment would soon follow or run concurrently.
Again all that hope of providing the masses with employment opportunities further waned.
It may interest you to know that
Economic activities (and social development) are predicated on 3  parameters viz:: 1. Savings; 2,   Consumption; and/or 3, Investment.

Development proponents are of the opinion that if savings, income or revenue are expended on consumption, there would be less and less to invest. And come knocking on the door shall be "lack or proverty"  sooner or later.
But if investment is pursued, there would be sustenability or profit, that would ensure continuous consumption, savings or for further investment resulting in prosperity and development.

Dual carriage roads,  YES( Youths Employment Scheme) temporary employment program. Establishment of bogus committees that merely duplicate civil  and public parastatals and agencies. Red roofs for schools, bogus committees that merely duplicates duties of already functioning civil/public service officers, parastatals and agencies, doling out stupendous amounts to cronies and hailers, weird parties/invitation of music superstars and comedians, were all consumptions before INVESTMENTS.
These mentioned above and more are not investments. Establishment of industries and production companies or centers, is.

...ENTER Obaseki as governor. Judging by the specific items mentioned by this governor during his 2016 campaigns/ inception of his administration, viz: modular refinery, power plant, motor assembly plant, Gele gele sea port etc etc, it was clear to professionals and the discerning and intelligent minds, that Obaseki must have suggested  these projects ( mentioned above and others) to his former boss who might have stubbornly refused; for lack of understanding and  tutelage in development studies.
LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD: This present government's facilitated "twin industries" so far, at Ologbo axis of Edo state are a hanbinger of development and prosperity for even those yet unborn.

THE GOVERNOR's style of management-by-objective (MBO) smarks of a very visionary leadership and must be applauded and encouraged.
By the time Gele gele sea port comes on stream, and the NISSAN auto assembly plant takes off, added to the already running model "production center", the highly innovative ICT "Innovation Hub"  Edo state shall become one of the most advanced state in this country Nigeria.
Therefore, it is only wise that Edo people should not bar this kind of governor from doing another four-year-term.
In management as a profession, projections, decisions and actions are subjected to tests and measurements.  Sir, you can only measure what is already undergoing a process.
TO TEST WHETHER  SOUP IS SWEET, THERE MUST BE SOUP MAKING, ON FIRE.
Changing a visionary, performing manager ISN'T a good decision at all, anytime.

This therefore,  is admonishing all Edolites to vote wisely for their own prosperity.
There is a saying in Benin kingdom, that if you wouldn't eat pounded yam for its sake -- you eat it because of the soup. IF YOU DON'T LIKE A CANDIDATE, LIKE HIM FOR HIS ANTECEDENTS, HIS PROGRAMS, HIS VISIONS for posterity sake.

People do not appreciate the value of the government they have, until lost.
If Edo state is referred to as industrial state instead of this "civil service state" stigma; where individual prosperity and purchasing power will be perpetually high and so attracts commerce and industries into the state.

Edo can become the most advanced state in Nigeria.

A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR THE WISE!!!
